Pinehurst, NC

Pinehurst is the village that golf built: a planned resort community founded in 1895 around a grand hotel, with brick streets, longleaf pines, and the most famous golf in America. The 2025 Census estimate puts the village at about 18,670 residents. For buyers it is a market of two speeds: walkable village life near downtown and the resort, or club-community living at places like CCNC, Pinewild, and Forest Creek.

What it's like to live here

A town with a point of view.

Everything in Pinehurst orbits the Village: the resort's restaurants and shops, the World Golf Hall of Fame, and a town green that fills with people for summer concerts and holiday parades. Streets are walkable and golf-cart friendly, and the pace slows after dinner. When the U.S. Open returns to Pinehurst No. 2, as it did in June 2024, the whole village becomes the backdrop for the most-watched week in golf.

The housing market here is two stories in one. Olde Towne and the streets near the Village carry some of the highest prices in Moore County, while the gated club communities, Pinewild, CCNC, and Forest Creek, trade on prestige and amenities. Farther out, family-friendly neighborhoods like Village Acres offer the same village life at a more approachable price. Golf-cart access, club memberships, and architectural controls all matter, so a local eye is worth real money.
