About Terry Nanney

Real estate has never been just about houses.

Terry Nanney has been helping people buy and sell real estate since 2003, and after all these years still believes the most important part of this business is taking care of people. Buying or selling a home is a big decision, and the job is to make the process easier, keep you informed, solve problems when they come up, and make sure you always know what happens next.

Whether you are moving across town, relocating to the Sandhills, downsizing, buying your first home, or selling a home filled with years of memories, there is usually much more to the story than the real estate transaction. Good communication, honest advice, and experience matter.

Terry Nanney, was recommended to me by my Lender. I had already talked to one broker and after a 5 min phone call with Terry I knew she was the right broker for me. Very warm and knowledgable about the area. Terry was the epitome of a professional. When dealing with Terry I felt as if I was dealing with a family member who was helping me buy my home. I can not be more pleased with my experience. I was truly grateful to be introduced to Terry and the team she had in support. She cared about my experience and my home and treated the whole process as if she was purchasing the house for her self. I did not interact with the staff. Throughout the entire process, Terry Nanney walked me through my options. She was aware of my challenges not being able to view the homes my self. Terry made sure I was understanding and comfortable with the process and talk through anything I was uncomfortable with.

Terry made our home buying experience truly exceptional! With the competitive market, she was quick to show me homes that matched our requirements. She also worked with me for viewing times that fit my family's schedule and answered my never ending list of questions about neighborhoods, nearby run routes, etc. Her knowledge about this area is unmatched and helped us make the right choice for our family. Highly recommend for anyone looking to buy in the area.

Five start is just not enough for Terry! There truly aren't enough words to express how grateful our family is for everything she did for us. Buying a home is a huge life event, and doing it while moving out of state felt incredibly daunting. We were nervous about making such an important decision from afar, but from the very beginning, she made us feel completely supported and cared for. She was always just a phone call, text, or email away, responding quickly and patiently to every question and concern we had. No matter what came up, she handled it with professionalism, kindness, and an incredible sense of urgency. What could have been a stressful and overwhelming experience became a smooth and exciting journey because of her. What stood out most was how genuinely invested she was in helping our family find the right home—not just any home. She took the time to understand what mattered to us and worked tirelessly to make sure we felt confident every step of the way. Even from hundreds of miles away, we always felt like we were in the best hands. Thanks to her dedication, hard work, and unwavering support, we're now settling into a home that we absolutely love and creating new memories as a family. We will always be thankful for the role she played in this chapter of our lives. If you're looking for a realtor who goes above and beyond, treats you like family, and makes you feel like you're her only client, she is the one. We cannot recommend her highly enough. Thank you, Terry, for helping make our dream a reality!

Why local matters

Buying a home here is a neighborhood decision.

The difference between a good home and a good life in the Sandhills is usually one street over: the feeder school, the golf-cart route, the commute to Fort Liberty, the block where the kids can ride bikes. Terry's job is to know those streets so you don't learn them the expensive way.

  • A clear Pinecrest High feeder pattern covers most of the area, zone by zone.
  • Fort Liberty keeps a steady stream of relocating families in the market.
  • 40+ golf courses and a deep equestrian scene shape where buyers land.
  • Year-round calendars in Southern Pines and Pinehurst keep every season active.

Local FAQ

The questions Terry hears on every first call.

Friendly, straight answers about life in the Sandhills, the schools, the golf, and the market right now. No jargon, no pressure: just what you would hear over coffee with a local.

What's it like living here?

Picture longleaf pines instead of strip malls, and a brick main street where you run into the same neighbors at the coffee shop. The Sandhills has four real seasons, a festival or farmers market most weekends, and a pace that slows down after dinner. It is small enough to feel like a hometown, and big enough that school runs, errands, and dinner out are never far from home.

What are the best schools in the area?

Moore County Schools assigns by attendance area, and most local addresses feed toward Pinecrest High through Southern Middle and West Pine Middle. Pinehurst Elementary and Southern Pines Elementary are the elementary stops families most often ask about. Zones are decided house by house, so Terry pulls the exact feeder for any street before you fall for the house.

How close are golf courses and outdoor recreation?

As close as it gets. There are roughly 40 courses within about 15 miles of Pinehurst, from the resort's famous layouts to daily-fee favorites like Southern Pines Golf Club and Pine Needles. When you want a break from the fairway, the longleaf pine trails at Weymouth Woods, the lake loop at Reservoir Park, and horse country next door keep the outdoors close.

What's the housing market like right now?

Active and steady, with the usual gap between towns. Recent public reports put the county's median sale in the mid-$400s, with Pinehurst and Southern Pines running higher and Aberdeen and the edges of town offering more approachable entry points. Well-priced homes still move quickly, and anything priced against wishful thinking tends to sit. The honest next step is asking Terry for current numbers on the exact streets you like, because a county average does not tell you what your street will do.
