What's Happening in Moore County This Weekend: November 6-8, 2026

Historic Broad Street in Southern Pines lined with American flags on a crisp November morning

The 14th Southern Pines Veterans Parade headlines a big Moore County weekend: the final First Friday concert Friday night, Ederville's trains and tractors running all three days, the farmers market and chili cook-offs Saturday, and a last day of tractor power Sunday.

November weekends in the Sandhills have a rhythm all their own, and this one is a winner: the 14th Southern Pines Veterans Parade leads the way Saturday morning, Ederville's trains and tractors run all three days, Friday brings the final First Friday concert of the season on the Sunrise lawn, and chili cook-offs and the farmers market round out the rest. Here is what is happening around The Pines from Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8:

Friday: the last First Friday of the year

The Sunrise Theater closes its 2026 First Friday concert season in style with Fireside Collective, a hybrid bluegrass, folk and funk band from Asheville, playing free on the lawn beside the theater at 250 NW Broad Street in Southern Pines from 5 to 9 p.m. It is the fall version of the series everyone loves all summer, so bring a chair or a blanket and settle in. Grab dinner at a downtown spot first and you have an easy Friday night handled.

Ederville: a working slice of farming history

Over in Carthage, the 21st annual Ederville Train and Tractor Show runs all three days at 644 Niagara Carthage Road, Friday through Sunday. This is not a static display: the Daniels family keeps these machines running, so you will see steam and antique tractors actually working, with plowing demonstrations Friday afternoon around 2 p.m., Caterpillar equipment demos, pedal tractor pulls, bluegrass music, a Parade of Power at 11 a.m. Sunday, and the famous Spark Show at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday night. Grounds open at 9 a.m. each day and the show closes at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Passes are sold in one-, two- and three-day options, kids 6 and under are free with a paying adult, and current 2026 pricing is on the official site at edervillenc.com.

It is one of those events that reminds you why this county is special, and it makes a great day trip for families.

Saturday: the Veterans Parade sets the tone

The 14th annual Southern Pines Veterans Parade, part of the Sandhills Veterans Festival, steps off at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Southern Pines. The opening ceremony gets going around 9:30 a.m. near the train station at 235 NW Broad Street, and the parade winds through downtown along Broad Street from there. Expect the All Veterans Group parachute demonstration team, a flyover from the Sandhills Fliers, marching bands, motorcycles, ROTC and JROTC units, veterans, floats and community groups, all under the theme 'Support Our Troops, Honor Our Veterans, Strengthen Our Community.' It is free, it is heartfelt, and it is one of the best mornings on the town's calendar. Arrive early to grab a good spot.

Farmers market, chili and a craft fair

Before the parade, or right after, swing by the Moore County Farmers Market in Downtown Park at SE Broad Street and New York Avenue in Southern Pines, open 8 a.m. to noon with local produce, baked goods and crafts, and live music from It Takes Two from 10 a.m. to noon.

Later in the morning, the Seven Lakes community hosts its SLLA Chili Cookoff, Craft Fair and Bake Sale at Seven Lakes Golf Club in West End from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., a fun stop if you are out on that side of the county.

Plans for the little ones

The Village of Pinehurst's Kid's Saturday pairs with the Given Memorial Library's Saturday kids program at 10 a.m. in Pinehurst. And for ages 5 to 12, the Youth Character Tea Party at the Arts Council Galleries at Campbell House, 482 East Connecticut Avenue in Southern Pines, runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a dressed-up morning of tea party fun with a creative character twist.

An evening soiree on the rails

Saturday night brings the Thanks for Giving Soiree for Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills, set aboard the Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway at 120 South Sycamore Street in Aberdeen, from 4 to 8 p.m. It is a special-cause evening, and every ticket supports neighbors who count on Meals on Wheels, so it is a night out that gives back. Reach out to Meals on Wheels of the Sandhills to grab tickets before they are gone.

Close Saturday with the Golf Capital Chorus

If you want to end the day on a happy note, the Golf Capital Chorus presents its 45th annual show, 'C'mon, Get Happy!', from 7 to 9 p.m. at Owens Auditorium in the Bradshaw Performing Arts Center at Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road in Pinehurst. This year's guest quartet is Let's Sing!, and tickets are available at golfcapitalchorus.org.

Car shows and community fundraisers

The Buchanan Family FFA Scholarship Cruz-In runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Buchanan Farms, a car show that supports the FFA scholarship fund. And in Aberdeen, the police department hosts Shop with a Cop at 10 a.m., the annual program that pairs kids with officers for holiday shopping.

Sunday: chili downtown and one last day at Ederville

Sunday is the final day of the Ederville show: grounds open at 9 a.m., an outdoor church service starts at 9:30 a.m., and the Parade of Power rolls at 11 a.m., with the show closing at 4 p.m. Back in Southern Pines, O'Donnell's Pub hosts the Southern Pines Chili Cook-Off at 133 East New Hampshire Avenue from noon to 3 p.m. Tasting tickets are $10 and it is for ages 12 and up, so come hungry, taste your way around, and vote for a favorite. And for a good cause: the Moore Philharmonic draws its painted violin scholarship raffle at noon, a fun way to support young musicians.

A small way to honor our veterans all week

One easy one for the whole county: Operation Green Light runs all month, so swap in a green porch bulb and leave it burning through Veterans Day, November 11, as a simple visible thank you to those who served.

For the most complete list of what is happening across The Pines this weekend, I always point people to The Pines Times, which keeps an updated Moore County events calendar with details like tickets and times. Events do shift, so it is worth a quick check before you head out, especially for anything ticketed.

However you spend the weekend, I hope you get out and enjoy all Moore County has to offer. And if buying or selling a home in the Sandhills is on your mind, I would love to help you find your place here.
